The last 100 years saw us in front of many changes in mothers rights for child custody. The beginning of the 1990s saw fathers get most custodies. This happened because the man usually won more money. Now the financial status of the parents is not the most important factor when thinking about custody rights. Now we do see an equal approach to both the rights of the father and of the mother. If the mother gains less than the father it does not necessarily mean she will lose custody as in the past.
Till the 1970s we saw another change when giving out custody. That was when most people ended up believing that the mother needs to have sole caregiver privilege. As time did pass all evolved to the standards that we see applied today. Nowadays all decisions are taken on situations that will favor the child.
Even so, there are different courts that are still highly favoring mothers in custody battles. These are basically courts that hold the mother to be one important care giver and will offer extra rights due to a belief of them being involved in all aspects of the life of the children. Even if you might not actually believe this, being the mother you can have some advantages although your financial status is not that great. There are different strategies that work wonders in getting custody.
While we are faced with an important role for the mother, the father is also at least equally important. Nowadays it seems that most people know how important it is to keep both parents involved so that the child can develop properly. If we see parents divorcing and then child custody trials begin we are sure to be faced with many problems.
Even after the divorce the best solution possible is to have both parents taking care of the child. While most of the current custody rights courts will favor mothers, it does not mean that both parents are not analyzed. The ideal solution is to find the best possible arrangement that suits the interests of the child.
